The meadows at Manor Farm
I have been capturing the meadow at Clattinger Farm for many a year now and had known that a couple of the fields there were harvested by Emorsgate Seeds, what I hadn’t appreciated was that their HQ was located so close by.
Rolling landscape that leads down to Bath
One Saturday morning this summer, I sprung out the door to head over to meet Laurie, one of three sisters from Emorsgate Seeds at Manor Farm, it was like stepping into a place of peace, space to breathe and embracing nature’s rhythm. We jumped onto a Kyboto and Laurie whisked us (and my whippet) up through the rolling ancient landscape surrounding Manor Farm to a meadow at the far top, It really had quite an impact on me. Left to my own devices I wandered back slowly through the meadows with plans to return the following morning.
A beautiful footpath tucked away on the way back down
The following morning was a Sunday, the land felt peaceful and calm. We made our way to the calcareous hillside that was one of their father’s, Donald MacIntyre’s favourite, full of flora beautifully swaying in the gentle early morning breeze. It was a dreamy moment and one that I will bank and reflect on this coming winter, when I have to draw deep for inspiration.
The last few petals of Common Poppy
Although it was almost too late to capture many wildflowers this year at Manor Farm, it has given refreshed my longing to capture wild flowers and learn more about them too. Next year will be even more exciting to see the meadows flourish again. Thank you to Laurie, it really was a highlight of my summer.
