It’s nearly all over, just a few leaves cling on at Stockend wood. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve stood here in awe of these trees, just the way they frame the pathway through, feels like a most magical entrance to another world

The silver birch trees are a riot of ocre confetti at Rudge Hill, so glad I managed to see them before the wind whips all this leaves away!

It’s times like these that I remember how much I love autumn. In my mind all I can think about is whether or not I’m ready for winter in my cottage, things always go wrong this time of year. So far just the hot water has a mind of its own

The sky was heavy with thick dark cloud but the colours were vibrant & true. Autumn border at Kiftsgate all tucked up & ready for winter, a joy to meander around in total peace, except the eerie crows high up on the hillside pines.
